LM2576 output current injection when swiched off?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2576, LM2576HV

Hello,

I am developping an electronic board with a LM2576HV (5V output). For testing purpose In our manufacturing subcontractor, I would like to generate the 5V output apart before powered up the LM2576( not in the same time).
I wondering, is it recomended to use the component in this condition and is there a risk for it's integrity?

thanks for your answer!

B.

  • Hello Benjamin,

There is no risk to the part, provided that VIN is not held low. VIN must be floating or held at a voltage equal to the output.

If VIN is held at a voltage lower than Vout, current will flow from Vout to Vin through the internal power switch body diode. This may cause damage to the part.

    Regards,
