SM72295 with VCCA VCCB = 0V and VDD=5V

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SM72295

I need to know if the SM72295 full bridge driver can be operated with no voltage applied to VCCA VCCB driver stage while VDD is 5V.
This mode would be a standard operating point, 5V keeping system logic alive while the driver voltage has been cutoff to conserve energy.

  • VDD is only used to bias the output stages of the OVB & PGOOD comparators and the current sense amplifiers (IIN & IOUT) and buffers (BIN & BOUT).  The gate drives, comparators, amplifiers and buffers require VCCA and VCCB to be present to generate the internal bias rails needed to function.

In summary, you can apply VDD with no VCC without damage to the SM72295, but the gate drives would not be operational and outputs listed above would be undefined.
