Yes, just set the regulaiton (OV) to 3.6V.

I want to ask with what types of batteries does the BQ25504 work? Does it work with Ni-Cd?

And what is the best type of battery to use with the BQ25504?

There is leakage path to VRDIV through OK_HYST so tie OK_HYST to ground. If you want VBAT_OK signal permanently high, tie OK_PROG to VSTOR. If you want VBAT_OK signal permanently low, tie OK_PROG to GND.
