HPA-169 Use with legacy chipsets

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z80, BQ2085, BQ2083

The technical guide for the HPA-169 mentions that the system is designed for the bq20Z80 based chipsets, but could it be used for older chipsets such as the bq2083 or bq2085? Would it work as is, or could it be made to work with software or hardware changes?

  • HPA169 works for devices with "bq20z" in the name. The data flash read/write and calibration methods have been standardized for these devices. The older devices each have different methods and therefore a single method will not work. Therefore older devices are not supported. There could be hardware incompatibility as well since there has been no assessment on suitability.
