Is 4-layer PCB necessary for BQ24765?

Hello,

We would like to know that is it necessary that for correct operation of BQ24765, we need to build that circuit on 4-layer PCB only?

Or can the circuit be built on 2-layer PCB as well?

If we can migrate the circuit on 2-layer board, then pls let us know what are the important factors to be considered during layout.

     It will be hard to design it in 2 layers. Use the EVM as the reference in your design. In case you find ways to do it in 2 layers. Make sure you have two grounds (Analog and Power Ground). The control stage and the power stage should be routed separately. At each layer, the signal ground and the power ground are connected only at the power pad. It also is critical that the exposed power pad on the backside of the bq24765 package be soldered to the PCB ground. Make sure there are sufficient thermal vias right underneath the IC, connecting to the ground plane of the other layers.

     Please follow the PCB layout guide lines in the user’s guide in page 8.
