From the BQ24765 Eval Module, is Q1 (BATFET) otherwise necessary if there is an alternative reverse polarity protection between the charger and the actual adapter.

We call Q1 as reverse blocking FET. It is necessary for a reverse protection from the battery to the input source.

Why do we need 2 FETs (Q1 and Q2)? Isn't one FET sufficient? Thanks.
