Problem with software BQEASY and BQ20Z45EVM

I have a board and I need to configure BQ20Z45EVM. For this I use the BQEASY software (V 1.87). When I press OK on the screen 2H a new screen opens stating: "There is a permanent flag set! Sorry, can not configure DATAFLASH. Please clear the flag and try again."

I can verify that the flag set (in the SBS option the "bq Evaluation Software") are: In the "Battery Status" bits: TCA, TDA, RCA, RTA, INIT, DSG and FD In the "PF Status" bits: RSVD And DFF In the "Operation Status" bits: DSG, XDSG, XDAGI And R_DIS In the "Temperature Range" bits: TR2A In the "Battery Mode" bits: CHM, AM, CF and ICC In the "Safety Status" CUV bits.

Please I need you to show me how to configure the dataflash with BQEASY. Thank you very much. The elements used are: EV2300 BQ20Z45EVM Bq Evaluation Software Software (version 0.9.64). Thank you very much

  • The bqEasy software for bq20z45 is pretty buggy; therefore, I don't recommend using it. You will be better off utilizing the help text to manually configure the DF parameters. The help text can be accessed by right-clicking on a parameter in the data flash screen of EVSW.

    Unfortunately with this device you have a DFF. The only way to recover that is going to be to reprogram the gauge. The most common cause of a DFF is if a DFI file for a different firmware version is programmed on the gauge.

    To reprogram the gauge you will need to:

    1) Go to ROM mode. Send command 0F00 to command 00 using Pro screen.

    2) Program the attached SENC file using the Srec Programming section in the Pro screen.

    3) Once programming is finished, send command 08 under the Send SMB Command section of Pro screen.

    SLUA404 is a document that will help walk you through configuration, calibration, golden learning, etc.

  • I just purchased the same bq20z45-r1 evaluation board with the ev2300, and am also getting the same problem.  I followed your steps installing the SENC file.  However, it seems that installing everything manually will take to much time.  Do the other chips work better with the BQ easy software?

    I am very worried because we started with this device (BQ20Z45) very promising and for 4 days I only see a series of incomprehensible bugs.
    I downloaded all applications notes Texas, read hundreds of posts on problems and given that we mass produce I confess I do not understand what I can see do not be more by Texas software designers team since one year, because most of the problems are not yet solved.
    Since a year ago do you have a more robust version of your software?

    For example, to this day, I have a board that works fine except that I dare not change anything for fear of having to start a process that took several days of work.

    I still have many questions, but first can you tell me if the software available is the latest?
    I understand that this is for you an enormous amount of development, but under these conditions you will understand that we need plenty assistance.
    One example among many:

    when I want to calibrate the voltage, I have to put a voltage below 11V else I have systematically code error 5024, whereas if I read the documentation I read that voltage up to 16V ...
    Do you have any explanation for that?
    Finally when i calibrate with only 10.5V i have a good voltage calibration, but i have no explanation why is not possible beyond 11V...

    Why do not you put a file type available that would configure the minimum BQ20Z45 with 2S/1P, and 3S/1P 4S/1P configuration with interna temp and 7A current with a shunt fixed?
    How do you explain the failures of communication repetitive although refreshing has been stopped?
    And without reason all is fine after 5 or 6 tries...

    Finally, why not have simplified the process of cycling before the golden file?
    When i want to escape this phase i have a message error, i must follow this enormous procedure (1 day!!).

    And could you tell me why i must manually fixed dischFET and chargeFET, I thought the charge FET alone put into operation as soon as BQ20Z45 detected the presence of voltage charger or the discharge FET a load while presence detection is ON.Should the golden file is generated to make it all automatic?

    Without all these inconveniences we must recognize that the product is very attractive, so i hope your help.
