BQ2002F charging termination issue

Hi,

In the last months I introduce a Bq2002F in my design to charge
NiMH batteries (4cells; TM=mid and C/2 rate).

I control the entire system with a uC and there aren't problem
to reset the bq2002F in case of a temperature fault
and understand when your device does a complete charging cycle
that correspond to a battery fully charged.

In the past I didn't a complete discharge of the pack so the
charging cycles were brief.

In the last days I noticed that my 2100mA battery pack ends the
fast charge in 40 minutes at 0.9A ca. Why does it trigger a
charging termination, before the right time?
I know It could terminate before beacuse I can't reach the
nominal capacity but 40'..... I'm worried...
Best regards

PS. Chris, the pack is new and pre-discharged (by me) and I was at ambient temperature.

It is difficult to judge the charge time without exactly knowing the initial charge status of the pack.  Additionally, temperature, the age of the pack, part tolerances, etc. will affect the charge time.

It is best if you know exactly what capacity your pack is at when starting charging, exactly how much current is flowing into the pack during charging, and how your pack's capacity vs. charge time/voltage/current curve looks.  For example, the charge current may have a significant tolerance associated with it resulting in a higher fast charge current that charges your pack quicker.  Or your pack might need a lot of extra time in top off charge to reach full capacity.  It may be best to consult your battery manufacturer and/or to look at the pack's actual current/voltage waveforms.
