bq78PL116EVM 0 cells found

I managed to reverse the power leads to my battery simulator and heated the EVM up enough to be able to smell it.  I didn't quite let out any smoke, but the components near the inductors got quite warm, mostly the diodes and FETs, I think.  So, while waiting for a replacement EVM I'm working through the Wizard setup, hoping that nothing is broken after all.  The processor talks to the Wizard and tells me that it only finds 0 cells (not matching the tmap file which was set for 7).  So I'm wondering how the EVM detects the cells, maybe I can replace the bad components.  Of course, if you know what will burn due to backwards power, that would be a groove.

Thanks,

Bob

  • Playing with the EVM and reading the Data Sheets for the '116 and '102 shows me that I have applied -3.7V to pins with an Absolute Maximum -V rating of -0.5 V on both parts.  I'll try replacing them one of these days (have new EVM now).
