TPS65910A1 PMIC for Sitara AM3359 ZCZ

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65910, TPS65910A, AM3359

My apologies for posting this topic in two of the TI forums.

This one, related to the PMU's sees more appropriate that my original choice in the Sitara™ ARM® Microprocessors forum.

Sorry for that.

Here it is:

================================================================================

I have designed a board which is for the most part a "clone" of the ICE ( http://www.ti.com/tool/tmdxice3359 ) ,

with many other devices as required for our application.

The problem I am facing now is that the PMIC is not getting out of the "OFF" state.

The actual PMIC part is marked:

                                             TPS65910A1

                                             TI   1BK

                                              CPQ9    G4

The most telling symptom is that Vref is stuck at zero Volt

( NOTE: measured that Pin 18  is not shorted to GND )

Other measurements are:

BOOT1= 1.8V  ;     BOOT0=  0V

0 V    =  SLEEP = NRESPWRON = INT1 = VDDIO = REFGND

1.8 V = VRTC = PWRHOLD

0.1 V = TESTV

5.0 V = PWRON = VCCIO

5.0 V = VCC1 = VCC2 = VCC3 = VCC4 = VCC5 = VCC6 = VCC7 = VBACKUP

Questions:

Is this the right PMIC for this processor ?

Any insight about what may be wrong?

Is there a document indicating how to actually bring up a board such as this,

with the procedures for flashing all the devices with the proper data so that the system will wake up ?

Thanks, Jure Z.

  • Hello,

Is this the right PMIC for this processor ?

    Please refer to http://www.ti.com/product/tps65910

    The device you are using is TPS65910. It is dedicated to the following processors : TI-AM1705/07, TI-AM1806/08, TI-AM3505/17, TI-AM3703/15, TI-DM3730/25, TI-OMAP-L137/38, TI-OMAP3503/15/25/30, TI-TMS320C6742/6/8

TPS65910A is dedicated to the following processor : AM335x DDR2

TPS65910A3 is dedicated to the following processor : AM335x DDR3

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Flore

  • Thanks Flore,

Following my research so far, I think that for the AM3359 ZCZ,  using DDR 2 ( such as in the ICE)  , I need the TSP65910AA1.

    Thanks, Jure Z.

  • HI,

    I'm adding new info.

We have just replaced the part on the board, a TSP65910AA1, in place of the TSP65910A1, and it works just fine.

I would suggest that the documentation for the ICE BOM and Schematic should be changed.

    Thanks, Jure Z.

  • Hello,

Thanks for your post and your suggestion!

    All the best,

    Flore

  • That.s right. TSP65910A1 is not suggest for AM3359zcz. Because VDIGE 1 and VDIGE 2 had setted 1.2V for TSP65910A1, TSP65910aa1 set 1.8v OUTPUT for VDIG1 and vdige2. But we have a new question, we used TSP65910AA1 and design the circuit like as the baseboard, but we can uboot it from the SD card, we had tested the  baseboard not connedt the GP board and LCD board, the Baseboard also can't uboot from the SD card. Can you tell we that what we can do for fixing the baseboard circuit, it can uboot from SD card with not connect the GP board and LCD board. Thanks, we need your help. if you know hoe to fix the circuit, please sent the email to me, my email is:02jimn@163.com. Thanks .
