Registers of the bq32000 RTC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ32000

Hello everyone,

I've got a question on the registers of the bq32000 Real-Time-Clock. In the manual the whole registers of the clock are describted. There are also the initial values mentioned. The describtion says that all the reserved register values should be written to 0. But I found some registers that initial value of those bits were not zero (like  TCH2 Register and CFG2 Register).

May somebody can tell me if this is an error in the manual or why these bits are not set to 0 automatically?

Thanks

Roldi

  • Hi,

May i know where exactly u find this sentence " The describtion says that all the reserved register values should be written to 0."

might be it is said that initially all registers are with default values .

Remember --- Default values not meant for "Zeros".

CFG2 has default value 10101010b means at power ON stage the bit which is high or low have their default functions . later it can be changed.

    Kshatriya.

  • Roldi,

Some reserved register bits may have non-zero default value; however, it is recommended that any reserved bits be written as zero.  This way (writing the reserved bits to zero) helps ensure compatibility with possible future TI RTC devices.
