Hello,

I've noticed that some of the newer LDO datasheets (as TPS727xx) mention the embedded EEPROM memory for setting the output voltage.

Does it mean that it is physically possible to reprogram the output voltage or it's just one-time programmable memory?

Since the datasheet says that it is factory programmed EEPROM, I would guess that you can't change the EEPROM by yourself.

Hello Albert_83,

I know that the LDO is factory programmed but supposed that I posses a large quantity of 2.8V LDOs could I return them back to the factory for reprogramming at 2.85V?

You are correct that the LDO EEPROM is only factory programmable and that the EEPROM is not accessable by customers. It might be possible to generatie a new IC with a different output voltage (set by EEPROM) if a strong business case exists. You will need to work with your local distributor to start these discussions. For most applications, it's best to choose an LDO with an adjustable output, which gives the flexibility for customer programming of any output voltage.

Hello Pawell,

And FYI - Texas Instruments has just released a programmable LDO family, consisting of the TPS7A7100, TPS7A7200, and TPS7A7300 for supply rails from 1-3Amps. This family of LDOs allows the customer to program the "fixed" output in 50mV steps from 0.9V to 3.5V.
