BQ27000 Capacity Inaccurate Flag

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27000

What is the proper sequence of charging and discharging the battery with BQ27000 circuit during manufacturing  to ensure the learning cycle is completed correctly and the CI flag is cleared? We would rather not monitor the system with I2C if possible.

  • Hello Paul,

You can complete a learning cycle by charging the battery to full and then discharging the battery past the EDV1 point (i.e. battery voltage <= EDV1).  The IMIN bit should set when taper is below the specified EEPROM value and the battery voltage is greater than the value selected by the QV1 & QV0 bits in the PKCFG register.  That would be a way to detect full charge.  At full charge the VDQ bit will set and should remain clear until an LMD update occurs.  Please note to avoid any of the LMD update disqualifications outlined on p. 11 of the device DS.

    I hope this helps.
