TPS62150 Low-Side FET Current Limit Threshold

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62150

The TPS62150 datasheet discusses the current limit protection in the following paragraph:

"Current Limit And Short Circuit Protection
The TPS6215X devices are protected against heavy load and short circuit events. At heavy loads, the current
limit determines the maximum output current. If the current limit is reached, the high-side FET will be turned off.
Avoiding shoot through current, the low-side FET will be switched on to sink the inductor current. The high-side
FET will turn on again, only if the current in the low-side FET has decreased below the low side current limit
threshold."

May be I missed it, but I don't see any number for the low side current limit threshold in the datasheet. The electrical characteristics table only lists high side current limit spec.

Q: What is the low side current limit threshold?

  • Here's a picture of the CL operation showing the SW node, inductor current, and Vout.  The inductor current returns to around 1.1A before the high side FET turns on again.  So, this is the low side current limit value.  It is high enough to deliver 1A output current even in current limit.
