question for MOS used in the Gas Gauge circuit design

hi all:

the MOS for protecting the CHG/DSG MOS from reversed-connected charger is seen in the documents of "bq20zxx Gas Gauge Circuit Design" . and i have question for the sentance "Q2 turns on in that case to protect Q4 by shorting its gate to source.".

         questions:

1.if the MOS turns on by shorting its gate to source, how does a MOS turn on without bias voltage?

         2. the path of the current generated by the reversed-connected charger is throught P+, source, gate, ground and P-,right? so that the current will not pass throught the CHG/DSG MOS, right?

        thank you.
