UCD9222 & UCD7242 Temperature Monitoring

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9222, UCD7242

Hi,

I have a single UCD9222 connected to a single UCD7242.  The UCD7242 is providing two separate power rails.

My question relates to how I should wire the UCD7242 TMON  signal to the UCD9222.  Should the TMON be wired to both TEMP1_AUXADC1 and TEMP2_AUXADC2 pins of the UCD9222? The C6678 EVM does this.  However the example schematic in the UCD9222 datasheet (Fig3) only wires TMON to TEMP1_AUXADC1 and the other is pulled low by a resistor.

When using Fusion to monitor the two rails it shows two different temperatures for the UCD7242, one for each rail.  Does Fusion know that both rails are on the same UCD7242?  Or does it display the values read back from TEMP1_AUXADC1 and TEMP2_AUXADC2?

Cheers,

Richard

  • UCD7242 TMON should really be shown connected to both TEMP1 and TEMP2 on the UCD9222 so that a inquiry to the controller about either rail's temperature will be reported correctly.  Otherwise, not connecting it will only affects the system if configuring an over temperature fault response for rail 2.

No the UCD9222 firmware is not aware which rails come from the same UCD7242.

    Fusion reports:

    TEMP1 for Rail 1

    TEMP2 for Rail 2
