TPS62152, Efficiency for low currents

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62152, TPS62080

Hi!

I am designing a power supply with the TPS62152 and trying to analyse the efficiency. The Webench design tool gives me a graph that shows the efficiency, but only for load currents down to 0.3 A. I need to know how effecient it is for currents between 0.05 and 0.3 A. I tried to use the "Operating points" section and it gave me some answers, but how reliable are they? My design will mainly operate with an input voltage around 5 V.

Thanks!

Kind regards

Lars

  • The datasheet has efficiency curves that go down to 100uA.  You can also order the EVM and test yourself.  If your input voltage will not go above 6V, then I would recommend a lower voltage IC like the TPS62080, as it will be more efficient.

You can post in the webbench forum to ask about their efficiency data.
