Hi all!!!

Below is shown a current limiting circuitry using TPS24710;

Requirements are:

Voltage: 4.9V to 6.0V

Current: 6 amps

Anyone can please review this design and confirm whether it will work for my requirements.

Hi,

The value of R2 seems to be too low.

Are you sure that you can get a 3.84m sense resistor?

Pullups missing on PG and FLT

Series resistor missing on gate (Rgate)

This is 5 V bus system. UVLO = 4.9V. Vin_nom = 5.0V, I_nom = 6.0A. COUT = 470uF

Based on the calculation, Rsense = 3.43 mohm ( one 6 mohm and one 8 mohm in parallel. Both are 0805 size 1%)

R3 is 24.9 kohm which gives the limited power of 36 W for CSD16403Q5

CT is 4.7nF which gives 0.63msec Fault Time

R1= 130kohm and R2 = 49.9kohm. This gives UVLO = 4.87V.

PGb or FLTb is usually pulled up with either resistor or LED to VIN to show the power good or fault situation.

This schematic is done as per the datasheet and suggested calculation of TPS24710, but I see some variation in R and C values in my and your calculations.

I will surely look into that and revise my schematic as per the values suggested by you.

Hi 1438816,

I am uploading the revised schematic after your suggestion and review with the connections of LEDs and gate resistor, please have a look and suggest any other updations if required. Can you please tell how the latch and retry modes will work for TPS24710 in bit detail.
