Hi!

The device is unsealed, i don't have permanent failures and my battery voltage is above Flash Update OK Voltage....however, i'm able to do write and read operations to the data flash except the update status....it's strange and meanwhile frustrating....

I use another PC with WinXP, but there is the same problem "runtime error 13: type mismatch"....

Does it make sense to recalibrate the bq20z65-r1 altough Update Status has value 04?

Stefan,

Writing a 41 (reset command) to address 0 should disable IT and allow you to clear the Update Status register. I recommend reprogramming the device to start from a clean slate since you have abnormal performance. Something may have gotten corrupted during your testing.

Thanks for your fast answer. I have already tried this several times....i write reset command to adress 0, then i want to write 0 in the Update status register but i always get following error: "Run-time error '13': type mismatch"... following by a software crash of bqeasy....do you have any idea, why this error happens?

Don't be confused by this picture. It looks like Update Status is 0 (what would be fine), but it isn't...after the software crash, i start the bqeasy again and the Update status is still 04.

HI,

I have a problem to as http://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/battery_management/f/180/t/99851.aspx.

I am trying to write to the data flash on a new battery design using the BQ20z65-R1 v1.05. When I write to any of the registers they just turn red and revert to their original value. The SMBus communication works with all the SBS registers being read correctly.

BUT!

I read:

>3) Make sure there are no Permanent Failures. A PF prevents data flash writes. Data flash reads are still allowed. The RSVD bit in PF status is set, all other bits are >clear and PF in safety alert is clear

But in my case PF status isn't clear.

Stefan,

Some of the bqEVSW versions will not allow you to write directly to the Update Status field in the Data Flash. In that case, you export the .gg file and edit the file to change the Update status to 00 and save it. You can then Import the .gg file back into the device and then press the Write All button. You should then write a 0041 to the Manufacturer Access to reset the device. This will disable Impedance Track.
