LP3952 LED Pattern out of sync

Hi,

My customer have designed using LP3952 to run some RGB LEDs blinking based on internal chip pattern generator. They connect 82K, 1% tolerance resistor as the oscillator frequency resistor.

Problem: When a few units of LP3952 is tested at the same time, the LEDs blinking in synch for few 10s of second before going out of synch.

Questions: Is there any solution to keep the LEDs of all LP3952 blink in synch? Using a smaller tolerance resistor will help on the synchronous?

Thanks,

Kwan

  • Hi Kwan,

I have forwared your question to our designer in Europ, and will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you!

  • Hello Kwan,

Using smaller tolerance resistor would not help in this case, it would keep the devices in sync for longer but they would get out of sync anyway. You would need a reference clock input for the LP3952 devices to keep them in sync, but unfortunately it does not support external clock reference.

Maybe using some clever SW sequence for restarting the lighting sequence every ~10s?

    Thanks,
