TPS780 adjustable version Vfb accuracy

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS780

The TPS780 data sheet shows a typical value for Vfb of 1.216V for adjustable versions of the part, but no min/max values.

The Vout DC accuracy specification seems to apply only to the fixed output versions.

Can someone at TI shed some light on this?

E.g., can we assume that Vfb accuracy is comparable to the DC accuracy specified for VOUT?

  • Hi Steve,

Though it relates to the output voltage accuracy, the change in reference voltage does not tell the entire story. The DC  output accuracy (+/-3%) is a more useful parameter which is the overall output voltage tolerance that includes the rated input, load, and temperature ranges. Per the test conditions at the top of the page, the +/- 3% tolerance is valid for both the fixed and adjustable voltage versions. Note the output accuracy does not include the tolerance of the resistor divider so if you want to minimize accuracy, I recommend you use low ppm 0.1% resistors.

  • Hi Darwin,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

My confusion came from "Vset = high/low" in the Test Conditions column, which I mistook to mean that the output accuracy parameter only applied to the fixed versions.

    Thanks again,

    Steve
