Problem with TPS40210

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210

I implemented the design based on switch pro configuration as below :

But it didn't work.

I have checked the datasheet, there is another configuration as below:

You can see there are some differences, Please let me know which configuration is correct.

Many thanks.

  • Hi David,

Can you elaborate on didn't work? Was the circuit built up on a custom board or an EVM? Can you show screenshot of the voltage at the drain of the Q1 and the output voltage to show what type of activity is there?

The main reason for the differences between the two designs is SwitcherPro defaults to a switching frequency of 300kHz while the design in the datasheet is designed at 600kHz. A switching frequency reduced by one half requires twice the inductance and output capacitance for the same ripple current and output voltage ripple respectively.

    Both configurations should work.

    Regards,
    Anthony

  • The output voltage is the same as input voltage 12V.

The TPS40210 is on a custom board.

    I will double check.'

    Many thanks.

  • I used SI4386DY in Switch pro configuration, It is should be ok.

Do you think is this the problem?

    Many thanks.
