CHEM list update

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL116, BQ27541-V200, BQWIZARD, BQEVSW

Dear all,
lately there are many new cells from Panasonic and Samsung and more,
which are basically different than regular LiCoO2, in cut off voltage, capacity, electrochemistry features.

Is TI performing any update to the CHEM file list?

since this is affecting the gas gauging accuracy.
I use the BQ78PL116, and when I need to use a Chineese cell then I perform chem optimization with BQeasy.
but this is Panasonic and samsung... if TI won't update CHEM file for them, the whole method, in my eyes, is problematic.

I will appriciate any comment or assistance,
thanks,

  • Ran,

TI continually updates the ChemID table to add new cells, but we only characterize and add cells per customer request. If you have a new cell that needs a ChemID, then we can characterize it. You should collect discharge data and use our MathCAD tool to verify that a close match is not already available in the table. You can download the MathCAD Chemistry Selection tool from most of our Impedance Track gas gauge device websites.

    Regards

  • dear Tom,
    thanks for the answer.

I noticed that in the BQEasy for bq27541-v200, there are more chem files types than in the BQ wizard.

one of them (chem 0421) was found as a match for my cells.

in BQwizard 3.1 chem selection tool, the latest is 0415.chem.

when I try to upload the chem file through the updater of the BQwizard, it gives me an error about an unaccessable path, although I tried to do it from several locations.

    what is there to do?

    why does it happens?

  • Ran,

The Chemistry file paths can get changed after updating bqEVSW files or bqWizard files. You may need to reload bqWizard v3.1 to get the tool and directories synchronized.

  • Dear Tom,

just to clearify, I'm using inside the BQ wizard, the chamistry updater.

    I tried:

    1) moving the chem files to from the BQeasy folder to the BQwizard folder
2)re downloading and reinstalling the BQwizard

    3) openning the bq wizard as a manager.

    didn't work,

    please assist us,
we can't operate the battery pack without it,
    thanks,

  • Ran,

The new ChemID must be imported into bqWizard. Go to Utilities >> Add-Ons >> ChemistryUpdater. Use the Import Chemistry button to load your ChemID into the program.

  • Dear Tom,

of course I have already done it, on 2 of my computers,
the result is a message of "wrong path", although I tried it from different locations and as a manager.

    does it work for you?

thanks for the assistance so far,

  • Ran,

I see that you tried importing the chem file from several locations and even reloaded bqWizard. I am not sure what could be the problem, so I will check with our tools engineer.
