Can't write flash on BQ20T45R1 and want to charge a single empty cell

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQEVSW

Hello

I'm using the BQ20Z45R1 and am evaluating with the EV2300 and the bqEVSW. Through a short-circuit one of the two cells discharged overnight to around 500mV, so that the permanent flag SUV is active the whole time and the Battery won't recharge. With reseting the permanent flags through the 2 word command, the flag is cleared for several seconds and the battery is charging for this time and discharges as soon as the flag gets set again.

So I want  to change the SUV Threshold, so it will charge again, but It seems that I can't change anything on the flash, even when I connected the circuit to a voltage thats higher then the "Flash Update OK Voltage", it changes back the value when I read the Flash after "succesfull" writing.

Also I get an error everytime i get out of a cell in the data flash section, that says that "txEdit_LostFocus" has a incompatible type, so I can imagine that it's the software on the PC.

I'm greatful for every suggestion.

  • Permanent fail condition disables Data flash writes The software does not get any errors in this case and therefore will not report errors. Upon readback the values are different and therefore in red. The mismatched type error could be a misconfiguration of the software or just because the data flash write did not go through. It could also happen when the device is not autodetected on startup and the device had to be manually selected.

If you have a golden senc file for the pack, then you could try clearing Permanent fail, then reprogram the device. Since this is an EVM, the best way is to just use a power supply instead of cells to make any kind of changes to avoid triggering Permanent Fail during the process
