TPS51518 with ceramic capacitor

Hello,

Our customer trying to design power supply circuit with TPS51518 for Intel ChiefRiver system agent application.

In the datasheet p.23, design3 is very close to what they want to build. But POSCAP is not allowed to use in their division now(it had a severe failure in their product).

In D-CAP2 mode, I think it could be designed with ceramic capacitors, and if the requirement is just capacitance, it could be build with 50uF x 4, for example.

Is my understandings wrong ? Please give me advice.

Hi Hiroshi,

Yes, your understanding is correct. You need to ensure to meet equation 6 in datasheet page 17 for D-CAP2 loop stability.
