I'm hoping for some help in selecting the smallest-size solution for charging a series 4-cell Li-ion battery pack. We need to both run the system and charge the batteries when the AC adapter is plugged in. The system load current could be up to 3 A, but the charge current isn't critical because it's okay to take hours to charge. We could charge at a fraction of an amp if that helps. We can size the AC adapter as needed, both for its voltage and its current rating. We have a microcontroller in the system, but we want to minimize how much charger management it needs to do. So, I'm looking for simplicity and, as I said before, the smallest footprint possible. I've been reviewing the available TI parts, and the bq24725A has potential, but I can't help wondering if there's a solution which is simpler.
Thanks,
Scott
