TPS63030 powerpad not connected

In the board, the TPS63030 powerpad is not connected to the gnd. The ic is getting heated up and consuming the current also. But what is the required output for which it is designed we are getting it. Can i know the reason for heating up of ic and current consumption?

Per the datasheet and the package drawing, the exposed thermal pad must be soldered to the board and connected to PGND.

If you just want a working board, you can order the EVM.

I have my custom board . so i cant use evm so.

Can you make the changes to your PCB? The PowerPAD™ must be soldered to the board in order to achieve appropriate power dissipation and should be connected to PGND. This is described in the datasheet.

You mentioned "the TPS63030 powerpad is not connected to the gnd", do you mean the PowerPAD™ is soldered down but, not connected to GND? If so, there might not be enough copper plane connected to the PowerPAD™. Either way the PowerPAD™ should also be connected to PGND.

Yes I can make changes but actual my doubt is , Is this the reason for the heating up of ic and current consumption by the ic?

Yes, it could be. You need to connect the thermal pad to GND.

But also compare your board layout to the recommended one in the datasheet or to the EVM's layout. Bad layout can cause issues.
