BQ25050

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25050, BQ25060, BQ24070

I've got a couple questions around the BQ25050/BQ25060 parts.

I am unclear as to the operation on "OUT". From the datasheet I can see that it will be greater than 3.4V when there is an input. It also mentions that Vout is regulated to 3.5V.

So what I am wondering is this:

If there is no input voltage, what is the value of Vout? Is it regulated to 3.5V from the Battery?

What is the max current of the OUT when input voltage is present? Can I put a 3A load on the OUT pin, a 30mA load on the LDO and charge the battery?

Thanks

  • And to add to this.

Can I disable the charge so that the device acts as a simple regulator from a 5v input to the 3v5 at the OUT pin?

I 'd like the ability to two separate inputs. One high current switcher for when the battery is meant to charge and the load is high, and One low current source that can be used when the output load is light and the battery charging is disabled.

    Thanks

  • Looks like the BQ24070 is more what I was looking for.

Regulates Vout to 4.4volts and has Dynamic Power Path Managment to control current.

    Thanks
