[BQ24190] Charge Current, Low Profile Inductor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24190

Hi Team!

I had a few questions regarding the BQ24190.

  1. What is the input voltage necessary to get a 4.5A charge current?
  2. Can you explain what is meant by a "low profile" inductor? What are the recommendations in designing/choosing this inductor?

Thank you for the support!

Ben

  • Hi,

    1. Taking into account an input current of 3A, eff. of 90%, output voltage of 4.2V, you would need around 7V at the input to get 4.5A at the output

    2. The mention at the datasheet is to emphasize the fact that since switching freq. is relatively high, 1.5MHz, low profile inductors can be used for your charger. You can find them at your regular inductor provider: Vishay, Pulse, Sumida, Coilcraft, etc.
