USB Interface Adapter Failure Using TPS65217BEVM

I have two issues:

1 - I had a hard time installing the EVM S/W on Windows 7.0 - 64-bit. It kept looking for a "Z:\My Documents" folder. I eventually had to fake it out by mapping a C: folder to a Z: drive. I had a lucky wild guess.

2 - After the S/W installed. It took a very long time for the USB driver to install. but I had the green light on the USB adapter. When I started the S/W (TPS65217_GUI_1p1), it told me the firmware was out of date, and asked would I like to upgrade it? I clicked yes, the upgrade crashed, and now the USB adapter does not light up. It seems to be "bricked".

Any ideas to remedy this problem would be appreciated.

Daniel,

The driver and the updated EEPROM are in the TPS65217_1p1 > TPS65217 GUI1p1 > data folder of the software download. Do you see this folder and the two files that I am referring to?

Most likely the adapter that you have is corrupted and can not be fixed.

Yes. I had to work with my TI FAE and I received replacements units.

We are working on a version of the software that does not require the interface box to undergo a firmware update. Hopefully this will prevent users from running into this issue. I'll be able to test the new software next week. If it works, we'll post it to the TPS65217 web page.

Without I2C, you can still evaluate the majority of TPS65217. The device will power up without I2C.

As it's just I2C there are many other ways of connecting. Robot Electronics in the UK make nice modules (USB-ISS, or USB-I2C) that do what you want. Has general purpose i2c interface software too. Worked a treat. Conor.

New software is now available on the TPS65217 EVM website. This software does not require any firmware update to the interface box. So, if you get a new interface box, you should be able to use the new software without any issue.

Thanks, unfortunately the TI support team hasn't responded to my request, so I don’t have a new interface box to use your software.
