I have a bq27541 use with a battery charged. The battery is not requested by the system. it is used only in case of emergency. Is it necessary to plan a regular discharge of the battery so that the gauge works correctly?

Hi Micou,
The gauge will sit at 100% indefinitely, but over time even a fully charged battery will degrade and the impedance will increase. In order for the Impedance Track gauge to learn the new higher impedance and give proper predictions of available capacity and run-time it will need to periodically see at least a partial discharge of your battery.
I may not fully understand your question.
It will predict available capacity always, but it just might not be that accurate after the battery has aged but never been cycled.
in your precedent message, you write "In order for the Impedance Track gauge to learn the new higher impedance and give proper predictions of available capacity and run-time it will need to periodically see at least a partial discharge of your battery". what is the periodically and the partial discharge?
