TI USB-GPIO adapter not communicating with bq77910A

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77910A, BQ77908A

The message I get is:

Incompatible Firmware Version

Attention: The USB-GPIO interface adapter version is not compatible

Detected version: 1.0.10

Required Version: 2.0.19

It is recommended that you update the adapter firmware before continuing.

Do you wish to continue?

If I say yes, the software says it can't find the bq77910A. I can't find update firmware anywhere on the TI site. Am I missing something? Where can I get the firmware?

George

  • Some EVM softwares will update the adapter firmware automatically, but the GUI for the bq77910A and bq77908A does not.  A separate utility, http://www.ti.com/tool/usb2gpio-loader-sw is used for this update. This utility can program the required 2.0.19 version and put the adapter back to 1.0.10.  It may or may not be able to update or restore adapters which have been altered by other EVM softwares.

Please see page 9 of the EVM user guide http://www.ti.com/lit/sluu855 or http://www.ti.com/lit/sluu854 and the readme file which installs with the utility.  With Windows 7 the firmware files typically install at C:\Users\<your-user-account>\AppData\Roaming\Texas Instruments\USB-TO-GPIO Firmware Loader\Firmware.

  • Perfect, though this should probably be made a skosh clearer on the page for both EVMS.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

For updating USB interface adapter's firmware , I excuted USB-TO-GPIO Firmware loader SW you mentioned. I hope to upated firmware from v1.2.2 to V2.0.19. But, it didnt work. There is a message ' No adapter found!' I thought there were no problem with connection between my laptop and adapter. i checked green light on my adapter.

if you have some idea, plase let me know
