how does TI determine chemID with learning cycle data

My understanding is the depth discharge vs OCV table, DOD(OCV, T), comes directly from chemID. How does TI determine chemID based on learning cycle data discharge / charging data? In other words, how do you back out the OCV vs DOD from the learning cycle data? How do you match voltage readings taking during charge / discharge with an OCV table when you don't know internal resistance?

  • A simple way you might do it is to try every chemID, one by one.  Assuming a certain OCV table, you can then scale the resistance based on your battery capacity and the capacity of the cell used to make each chemID.  Applying the known current, the assumed OCV and resistance, you get the loaded voltage curve.  You can then see how well that matches your learning cycle curve.  Repeat until a decent match is found.
