What's harder to find these days a 2S Li-Ion charging solution or a Boost 2.7 - 4.2 to 5V @ ~2.5A?

I have rechargeable battery pack with a USB power port. And am trying to decide between a 1S and 2S Li-Ion solution. Any thoughts are appreciated.

TI does not have any buck boost chargers at this time so if you want a one chip solution, the 1S would be best, otherwise you will need a boost converter followed by a charger.

I need 5V at the output, wouldn't that make 2S more practical? No need to boost anymore just switch down. There do appear to be a few 2S charging solutions that I can work with.

You can use one charger such as bq24170 to charger 2s and then buck down to 5V output. Alternatively, you can use bq24195, which takes USB input to charger 1s battery and use boost mode to boost single cell voltage to 5V output. What current output are you looking for?
