Dear TI,
Does TI have application note to describe about over current protection tolerance design by using TPS40101 controller?
Thank in advance

Hi MD,
I don't think we have the applicaiton note for the TPS40101 over current protection design.
I would suggest to design for the worst - make sure all the part could deliever full-load current for all the application temperature. Therefore, based on equation (29) of the datasheet, in order to calculation the RILIM, VILIM should be min (1.44V), gmCSA should be the max (nominal value x 1.1), RLDC should be max (with considering the rise of resistance at hot), IOC can be set at 1.3 times of the full-load current.

Hi MD,
You may also need to consider the other end (VILIM max, gmCSA min, RLDC min) with your selected RILIM, which gives the maximum possible overcurrent limit. Then for FETs, inductor and Cin/Cout selection, you may need to take the maximum possible current into consideration.
