bq20z65-R1 - configuration check

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z65

Morning,

With the kindest of thanks for your help, please could you advise whether I can expect the battery to charge with the following flags set. I am under the impression that I can and that my issue is now with the charger.

The gas gauge capacity is totally wrong and I have faked that calibration with a simulated cell, although with the CHG and DSG FETs open I think I should be free to charge yet the current never becomes positive.

I do see the charger failing to charge also but that could be related to the gas gauge keeping the battery disconnected. If this looks right then I can spend some time looking at the charger configuration.

Best of thanks.

  • Hello,

It's a shame no one has spotted any issues already but I have been going a little further into this today and can confirm that it is the gas gauge device (bq20z65) that is preventing charging.

I have spotted a bug in the configuration wizard for this device that does not disable temperature sensor 2 when going through the wizard. With that issue aside I'm wondering if this replacement device for the 95 has a few other configuration bugs.

The devices are excellent and have every parameter you could hope for. But they're really tricky to just get going for a board layout test!

    Thanks again for any help.
