Switcher output steadily rising over time

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZ12002

I am using a LMZ12002 switcher to produce a fixed output voltage of 2.5V for a Virtex-5 FPGA. I used webbench to simulate the design and used the same components values. My input voltage is 5V.

The output of the switcher steadily rises from 2.6V to 2.9V, stays at 2.9V for some time and then drops to 2.6V and then rises again.

What could be the problem ?

Thanks

  • Hi Sandeep,

Could you tell me a little bit more about your setup?

Is this design being tested on the demo board or on your end design board?

Is the FPGA currently connected to the 2.5V rail?  Or is another load being used to test the supply? If there is another load, how much current is being drawn.

Is there anything else tied to the 2.5V rail?

Can you show the same picture as above but include the 5V input rail, and the Enable pin voltages?

    Regards,

    Marc
