How to turn the LM5008 OFF with out using a mechanical switch

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5008

Hi,

I was wondering what was the best method to turn the LM5008 off with out using a mechanical switch which is what is shown in the datasheet.

The Ron (pin6) needs to be pulled low (below 1.5V i think) and then the device turns off.

During operation this pin is used to set the switching frequency.

I can currently only see using a NPN transistor to pull that in down but that means i need something to power the base of the transistor continually. This is not obvious consideringthe wide input voltage supported by the LM5008 (12V to ~90V)

Is there an application note with recommended circuitry to consume the least amount of power while off?

Regards,

Alexis
