USB adaptor for BQ34Z100

Hello,

I currently have a BQ34Z100 evaluation board and a USB-TO-GPIO adaptor in my posession.  I do not have the EV2300 USB adaptor.  Is there any way I can use the USB-TO-GPIO adaptor instead of the EV2300?  I think I have my hardware set up such that it should work, but the evaluation software for the BQ34Z100 doesn't recognize the existence of the USB-TO-GPIO adaptor.  Is this possible?
