Gas Gauge bq20z80A

Hi TI-Team

Since many years we are using the Gas Gauge bq20z80A for our Battery Module 4s5p with the Panasonic Cells CGR-18650CG. Now Panasonic discontinuous with the production of this cell type and proposes the replacement cell UR-18650A.

Can we use the Gas Gauge bq20z80A also with this cell? Is there a replacement for the bq20z80A or do you know if the production of this Gas Gauge discontinuous in the near future?

    The bq20z80A is still in production and we do not have any plans to remove it from the portfolio. It is an older device, so we do have newer gas gauges that will offer improved performance. They are not drop-in replacements for the bq20z80A, but you can review their specifications on the TI website. We have also characterized the UR18650A and it is ChemID 252.
