Hello,
i am currently working at designing a battery charger for charging a 6-Cell LiIon Battery pack (with built-in protection/balancing).
Target charge current is 5A, charge voltage 4.15V per Cell. Power is supplied by an off-the-shelf switching power supply, which has not been chosen yet.
Size is not critical, as is power dissipation, however high reliability and safety is.
I have been looking at the BQ2954, as well as the BQ2054, what would be the better option?
For the power stage, i was thinking about running it at fairly low frequency (80-100Khz) and use a integrated hi-side driver chip with little slower FET drive to reduce EMI related trouble (we can only use a 2-layer PCB).
