Battery Calibration

It is important that the voltage is measured with a 1-mV accuracy. I am using a Fluke 87V  with the following spec. It auto ranges so I am not sure it has the 1mv accuracy.

DCV
Maximum Voltage 1000V
Accuracy Fluke 87 V: ±(0.05%+1)
Maximum Resolution Fluke 87 V: 10 μV

  • It really depends on the type of fuel gauge and the actual shape of the chemistry curve. For Impedance Track gauges and most of the chemistries it is important to realize that obtaining 1% error in fuel gauging requires 1mV accurate voltage calibration. If you only need fuel gauging accuracy to 5%, then 5mV calibration is OK, and so on.
