Using BQ20z80

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z80

M using EVM BQ20z80

1)and going to do chemistry cycling, as in datasheet they have told to connect vout of I2c or HDq to load.

will it be fine if i connect external power supply

2)is it compulsory to do cycling for continuous 24 hrs.

thanx and regards

rohit

  • 1. The load will need to be switched off and on by the program, which uses the VOUT pin. So, you will need to use a relay or FET as shown in the schematic in bqEasy. Click on the schematic to see more detail. An external power supply is not needed, unless such a device is used to sink current instead of a C/5 resistor.

    2. Chemistry "Learning" in section 4 of bqEasy can take 24 hours or more to "learn" your chemistry. Chemistry "Cycling" in section 5 will not take that long.

  • Thanks,

See what i am doing is,for chemistry selection is

    1) battery charged to full.

    2) load connected to pack + and PACK-, and SMBUS is conneted to evm, and instead of VOUT through I2c m givin 5 v suppl externally to gate of mosfet, as vout pin of I2c of EV2300 IS SUPPLYING 5 V. m DOING THIS BECOZ, my Vout pin of HDQ or I2C is not showing any voltage when USB connected and checked with DMM.

    is it gonna work?

    another question,

u said load is to be switched of by program,

how is that m not connecting Vout of I2c, its external 5V.

    please reply

    thanks and regards

  • During chemistry selection cycling, when they say relax for two hours,

i just remove the load at pack+, pack-

and SMBUS is cpnnected and cell are at 1N and 4P, relaxing

m confused about the procedure of cycling, although i have read all the related document with the application book

    pls help.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Rohit,

You must use the VOUT pin to control your load. Otherwise, it definitely will not work.

  • sir,

when i connect the USB to PC, the output at EV2300 i.e. the vout pin of I2C or DOESnot show any voltage,  only VCC shows the 3.3v output ,  i.e. why i connected the external 5V supply,

During chemistry learning,  SMBUS is to be keep connected,  and load is through Vout pin of I2C,   this is the procedure,   isn`t it?

but my Vout at I2c do not give any output,  any alternative or option??

please tell the set up in detail if possible

    thanks and regards
