Possible to use LM5113 as single-side GaN FET driver?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5113, LM5114

Hi.

I'm working on an application where we are using the LM5114 GaN FET driver.  But there is no simulation model made for this component.  There is, however, a model made for the LM5113 dual GaN FET driver.  Is it possible to use the top side of the LM5113 to emulate the LM5114?  What then should I do with the bottom-side inputs and outputs to get the LM5113 to work?

BR,
Øystein Johnsen.

  • We are in the process of producing the LM5114 Pspice model.  Will publish it soon.

If you just need the basic driver functions in your simulation, you can use the LM5113.   However, if you need to simulate some particular details of the driver itself, the LM5113 model may not be a good substitute, because the two parts have some different features.

The LM5114 itself is a low side driver. When you use LM5113 model, you should use the low side channel instead of high side channel to emulate the LM5114.  Tie the HI to GND; HOL to HOH; and add a Mega Ohm resistor from the node of HOL and HOH to GND.
