How do I proogram the BQ2024 Serial EPROM?

I have a BQ2024 User Interface Program and the EV2300 and a custom *.dat file for our batteries. I'm trying to program the *.dat file into the part and I'm not able to. I'm able to read the empty part through the GUI, but is there anything special that I need to do to load/program the *.dat file into the part? Can the BQ2020 User Interface Pragram and EV2300 be used to program this device? If not, what is the most common approach/toolset used to program these?

I already figured out that both Vss lines must be grounded (the datasheet only showed pin 2 as being pertinent, but I now know that both must be grounded).

Also, I found this in the datasheet, " A special manufacturer's PROGRAM PROFILE BYTE can be read to determine the programming profile required to program the part." but I'm not sure where that would be placed in the BQ2024 user interface program.

I would suggest getting a bq2022A EVM from TI's website (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/bq2022aevm-001.html). The bq2022A is a 1kbit version of the bq2024. Currently the bq2024 doesn't have an official EVM but it can be used with the bq2022A EVM board. The board is based on a socket which will allow to replace ICs on a continuous basis.

What you are most likely missing for programming the bq2024 is the required 12V pulse for programming the OTP. The EVM includes a FET switch circuit that when connected with the EV2300 and a 12V power supply creates the pulse at the right moments by control of the bq2024 EVSW.
