bqMTester: Getting bqMTester to work with new released parts

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z90, BQMTESTER, BQ27350

The bqMTester software may not have the option to work with the part you are trying to calibrate/test.  This is a common problem that can usually be resolved by adding the part to the list of parts the software is compatible with.  An example that is very common is the bq20z90 v1.50.  That part is not in the dropdown list of compatible parts.  It is described in the bqMTester User Manual how to solve this problem but here is a simple description:

  1. Edit the "targets" file in the \bqtester directory using windows Notepad program
  2. Add the line

              "bq20z90 v1.50","900.1.50"

  1. Save the file.

You can see from the above that the script is pretty simple.

  1. bq20z90 v1.50 :  this is the text descriptor.
  2. 900.1.50::  900 is the part number that the fuel gauge reports.  1.50 is the version it reports.

That is all there is to it.  All the catalog parts as of the date this is written will work with bqMTester.  We do test the parts with bqMtester as they come out but please verify that the part was calibrated and the ROM file is written correctly before production just to be sure on your end.
