Question on UCC27524 gate driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27524

Hi All,

I am using UCC27524 gate driver to drive a power transistor. I use signal generator to generate a square wave as the input of  UCC27524 gate driver. However, the output of UCC27524 gate driver is not a pure square wave. The output is attached below. How should I get rid of the ripples on the square wave to make it a pure square?

Thanks,

Jackson

  • Jackson,

The ringing on the top is usually not an issue. The negative spike when the IC pulls to ground can result in issues. This is mainly layout and impedance matching that causes these issues or it could be long leads on your scope probe. If it is real in the case of the negative spike you may need a low voltage Shottky diode from the IC ground to the output pin of the driver.

Make certain that there is a low ESR and ESL capacitor directly across the VDD and Ground pins of the driver.
