Which battery charger chip is better for dual-cell Li-Ion battery charge?

I need to design a battery charge circuit for a portable device which equipped with two Li-Ion batteries. The input power is DC5V or USB power. Thank you.

What do you mean by two Li-Ion batteries? Are they configured in parallel or series?

Hi SamW2000,

Two Li-Ion batteries are in serial mode and to provide a DC 8.4V power source.

The input power is DC 5V to charge the batteries.

Ti does not have any boost chargers to go from 5V to 8.4V. This would require a separate boost converter from 5V to at least 8.8V.

If you choose to do this then the charger portion would be the bq24133, bq24170, bq24120.
