I have several antique cars with 6 volt battery systems. I would like to replace the generator with a 12 volt alternator and a small 12 volt battery. I am trying to design a buck converter which will take the 12-15 volt output of the 12 volts system and charge the 6 volt battery (replacing the 6 volt generator). The 6 volt generator has a 30 amp output.
I am looking at using 2 TPS5124 devices in a 3 phase application. I purchased the eval board but it does not show any 3 phase connection options and I am finding the data sheet to be vague in how to do this. I also am curious as to whether this part is appropriate since the max supply is 15 volts. Would I be better off using a different controller.
Suggestions and thoughts appreciated.
