bq20z45 unseal process

Please tell me if I am doing this right, because it is not working.

I changed the default Unseal Key and Full Access Key:

New Unseal Key: 0D0C 0B0A

New Full Access Key: 0A0B 0C0D

Not too clever, but this was just practice. I verified that the keys had updated by reading the keys back before I sealed the device.

So, I think the manual tells me that to Unseal, I transpose and write to 00, like this:

0D0C 0B0A becomes 0C0D 0A0B

Write 0C0D to 00

Write 0A0B to 00

and the SS flag should go down. But it does not go down.

I have tried all possible permutations of my new Unseal Key. Where am I going wrong?

to READ a seal key= SMB Command [60]= seal key

to READ full access key = SMB Command [61] = fas key

to change above use SMB block write function

write to block [60] to change seal key and block [61] for full access

to seal device = manufacture access [0020]

to unlock, remove SS, FAS bits

1) write 2 word command 00 with seal key, HIGH BYTE FIRST= clear ss bit

2) write 2 word command 00 with fas key, HIGH BYTE FIRST= clear fas bit

if you write garbage or out of bound hex data the device is fubared...

assume Seal Key = 3BF3 F23F

to clear it write F33B 3FF2

assume FAS = 3AF1 4B3C, to clear it write F13A 3C4B

Thanks for the great reply - That is what I was doing. HOWEVER, I also had the SBS screen updating continuously. So there were write/reads going on during my 2 writes to 00. Turn the scan off, do the writes, and down goes SS and FAS. Problem solved.
